  Manan Reviews Chapter 1: WandaVision

We were badly waiting for a Marvel movie but unfortunately due to Covid 19 all projects from Marvel started delaying and we got to see no Marvel movie in 2020. But this year we finally got a web series from Marvel which is named WandaVision and today we are going to review it. So lets start.

STORY

I dont want to discuss much about the story as it can be a spoiler. The story is of Wanda and Vision who have just been married and are leading their life like a sitcom. YES! SITCOM. This series consists of 9 episodes and every episode represents a new decade. For example- 1st ep:50's, 2nd ep:60's, 3rd ep: 70's etc. Now many questions will arise like - How is Vision alive and Why is every episode is representing a new decade and why both of the main lead characters are leading their life like a sitcom. All answers will be given in this series. The first 3 episodes might be very confusing but as the story progresses we start getting answers and the story builds up which leads to a stupendous ending. We also get to see the back story of Maximoff siblings. Overall the story is very interesting and shows us the evolution from Wanda to Scarlet Witch.

SCREENPLAY, DIRECTION AND ACTING

NO doubt the screenplay of this web series is outstanding. The screenplay will clearly tell you that the screenplay writer has a clear vision. Plus the changing of aspect ratios of the screen in every episode tells us that Marvel is the best in detailing their projects.

The direction was good but personally I thought that the direction in the first two episodes was not so good which made the episodes slow and uninteresting but in the rest of the episodes the direction was awesome.

ELIZBETH OLSEN and PAUL BETTANY have done an excellent job in playing the roles of Wanda and vision. Also Kathryn Hahn, Randall Park and Kat Dennings have done a very good job.

ACTION AND VFX/CGI

We saw very less action in this very web series compared to other Marvel movies. The only action sequence we saw was in the last episode but whatever action we saw was perfect.

The VFX in this web series is very good just like every other Marvel MOVIE. I think the REAL superhero in Marvel movies is the CGI Department. Simply hats off to them.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE POINTS 

Positive:- The story and the screenplay is the center of attraction of this series. The director Matt Shakman has directed this web series very nicely. The acting is excellent and the VFX is awesome. Also the sitcom style is quite unique and I am loving the way Marvel experimented their ideas in this web series.

Negative:- The first two episodes are quite boring and unenjoyable. Also as an Indian audience it was difficult for me to connect to the American sitcom style. Also I expected some more action from this series.

FINAL VERDICT

The series is nicely made and the 8 weeks wait was worth it. After 1 1/2 years it was lovely to watch a Marvel project. This series is insanely important for the Marvel fans because in this series we saw the real Scarlett Witch, we saw a new superhero and this series will directly connect to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Overall I loved the series and my rating is 3.9/5.
